Tarhe Trails Elementary values the many families that live in our community who have ties to the military. We understand that military youth go through unique circumstances and situations and we want every military family to know we are here to help. This webpage is designed to provide you with easy access links to helpful resources. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our military liaison, Mr. Brosovich. Tarhe Trails also acknowledges and celebrates our military families and military history throughout the year in several ways, including:

Bloom: Empowering Military Teens:
A digital community where military teens can express themselves through writing, art, and storytelling, sharing experiences and connecting with peers who understand military life.
Blue Star Families: Ohio Chapter:
The Ohio chapter—currently the only one based in Dayton & Southwestern Ohio—connects military and veteran families through virtual and in‑person events, exclusive member benefits, and a community built on mutual support.
Folds of Honor: Scholarships for Military and First Responder Families:
A nonprofit providing educational scholarships to spouses and children of fallen or disabled U.S. military members—and, more recently, first responders—supporting K‑12 tutoring to college tuition.
Inter-Service Family Assistance Committee | Ohio.gov:
A statewide voluntary partnership of military, state, and community organizations that coordinates and funnels comprehensive support and resources—financial, employment, family—for Ohio service members and military families.
Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC):
The coalition supports all military-connected children by educating, advocating, and collaborating to resolve education challenges associated with the military lifestyle.
Military Interstate Children's Compact Commission:
The Compact provides information addressing key educational transition issues encountered by military families including enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation.
National Military Family Association:
Provides information and resources related to services and programs for military families
Ohio Cares: Behavioral Health Support for Service Members, Veterans, and Families:
OhioCares connects service members, veterans, retirees, and their families to critical behavioral health services and provides 24/7 access to licensed clinicians.
A one‑stop summary of Ohio’s programs—ranging from employment assistance and license reciprocity to education benefits and behavioral health services—for active-duty service members, National Guard, Reserve, veterans, and their families.
A support network for military youth who experience a loved one's deployment. Provides recreational, social, and educational programs for military youth in civilian communities geographically dispersed throughout the state.
Ohio Veterans Education Council (OVEC):
An Ohio‑based council that helps veterans and their families navigate and access educational benefits—like the GI Bill and state-specific programs—by coordinating efforts among state higher‑education agencies, the National Guard, and VA
Reserve Organization of America Stars in Schools:
The STARs In Schools program provides school kits and online resources to help children of Reserve Component families explain their unique home situations and needs in a school setting.
Provides resources and help for veterans and their families with an array of issues they may face, including, obtaining proper disability compensation, financial assistance, information on the GI bill, and more.
SAFE is Strong: Strengthening the Health and Safety of Military Families:
A centralized resource platform offering guidance and tools to bolster the health and safety of military-connected families with young children, under the "Safe is Strong" initiative.
